I'm Tom Unger and my wife Alice and I have had the incredible privilege of serving our community here in Troy, Illinois for the past 34 years through our eye care practice, Unger Eye Wellness. When we first opened our doors, we knew we wanted to do more than just prescribe glasses. We wanted to truly understand and address the root causes behind vision struggles, especially for children who were having trouble in school or sports despite seemingly "perfect" eyesight. As parents of three sons who all have vision issues and went to school and played sports at Triad, we understand firsthand the unique challenges that come with combining vision issues and academic and athletic performance. We've been in those bleachers cheering on our boys, knowing that their success depended not just on their physical abilities, but on how well their visual systems were working together. Over the decades, we've watched countless families walk through our doors feeling frustrated and searching for answers. That's what drew us so deeply to Vision Therapy. It's not just about what you can see on an eye chart; it's about how your visual system works as a whole. Every day, we get to witness those breakthrough moments when a child who's been struggling with reading suddenly finds that words stay still on the page, or when someone discovers they can finally catch a ball without difficulty.
